JAKARTA - The lawyers of Doctor Reza Gladys, Julianus Sembiring and Yoki Pranata, came to the Supreme Court (MA) to seek legal protection for the judges. This was triggered by the discovery of a voice recording that was suspected to be similar to the convicted Nikita Mirzani regarding the attempt to intervene in law at the level of Kasasi and Review (PK).
"We found evidence of a voice recording that is very similar to the convicted Nikita Mirzani. In light of this, we suspect that this will be a matter of concern again," said Julianus Sembiring at the Supreme Court Building, Wednesday, July 1, 2026.
Yoki Pranata detailed the contents of the conversation in the recording, which referred to a fantastic amount to bribe the judge.
"The content of the conversation is that we suspect there is an attempt to bribe the judge at the cassation level with a figure of Rp4 billion," said Yoki.
According to Yoki, although the bribery attempt at the cassation level was allegedly unsuccessful because the Supreme Court's ruling still stated that Nikita was guilty, the opposing party was allegedly trying again at the PK level.
"We suspect that there is an attempt to bribe again at the level of review to intervene in the judge's decision later," he added.
Julianus emphasized that there were three strong indications in the recording.
"First, the voice is very similar to the convict. Second, there is the name of our colleague who is mentioned. Third, the recording tells the same story as the one reported at the Metro Jaya Police about the 4 billion," he said.
Julianus described the contents of the recording as not containing negotiations, but rather anger because the promise of freedom was not fulfilled.
"There was no negotiation, it was just people who were angry. Angry because at the cassation level it was not successful, while the money had already 'crossed' it," explained Julianus.
In the recording, the figure whose voice is similar to Nikita demands accountability for the large amount of money that has come out.
"The voice that sounds similar said, 'You have failed in cassation, continue on PK. The money of 4 M is big'. That's about it, he asked for a promise to someone," he continued.
He suspected that there were parties who promised freedom to the convicts in exchange for money.
"There may have been previous promises from the recipient of the money promising freedom. So we ask the Supreme Court to provide legal protection to the panel of judges so that it does not interfere with its integrity," he said.
Regarding the origin of the recording, Julianus chose to keep the source confidential for the safety of the witness.
"The recording was obtained by our client from his colleague, who we also cannot mention at this time because this is a protection against evidence and witnesses," he said.
His party hopes that the Constitutional Court will examine the evidence in order to maintain judicial independence from outside intervention.
"This is our first step to ask for judicial immunity. If later it is proven that the voice is the convict, of course we will take the second legal step," concluded Julianus.
For information, Nikita Mirzani is currently serving a sentence after being convicted of extortion, intimidation, and money laundering (TPPU) involving businessman and doctor Reza Gladys. The Supreme Court rejected the cassation and sentenced him to prison.
