JAKARTA - Robert Downey Jr. strongly forbids the use of artificial intelligence (AI), especially in relation to himself. He is even ready to sue anyone who tries to make Tony Stark's character rise from the dead.
Recently, he spoke on the On With Kara Swisher podcast to discuss the dangers of using AI in the entertainment industry.
"There are two paths. How do I feel about everything that's happening? I only feel it minimally because I have a real emotional life going on that doesn't have much room for that," said Robert Downey Jr.
"Going back to the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), I'm not worried about hijacking my character's soul because there are three or four people who make those decisions and they wouldn't do it without me," he continued regarding Marvel.
When asked what he thought about AI that might be used in several entertainment products. Downey Jr. said he was ready to sue with his attorney.
“I would say I would sue every executive just for that, but my law firm is very active,” he explained.
The Iron Man actor has also invested in AI companies. Regarding this, Downey Jr. explained that he looks at the purpose of what the company is trying to convey.
“It always comes back to the technology or the opportunity to fill my pocketbook, not, ‘Who are the people involved in this? Do I think they have a moral psychology? What are they doing this for?’ Downey Jr. said.
“Is their steering committee solid? Do I have something to learn from this experience, can I be additive?’ So I’m a little more agnostic about those things,” he said.
Robert Downey Jr. will return to Marvel to play Dr. Doom in Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
