Weki Meki Officially Disbands, 5 Members Leave The Agency

JAKARTA - After seven years, Weki Meki officially disbanded. Fantagio as the agency released a statement that their activities ended on August 8 after announcing it for the first time last June.

At the same time, they also mentioned the contract status of several members. Some chose to leave the company, while others also chose to renew their contracts.

"We are in a serious discussion with members Ji Suyeon, Choi Yoojung, and Kim Doyeon so that artists can make choices for themselves," Fantagio said on Friday, August 16.

"And after the discussion, Elly, Sei, Lua, Rina and Lucy ended their exclusive contract. We thank those who shine as members of Weki Meki," he said.

The agency asks fans to support whatever their activities will be in the future. They are also trying to help the former members in the future.

Once again, we and members of Weki Meki are grateful for all of your love and support to this day and we ask that you continue to support Weki Meki members as they are taking new steps," they continued.

Before deciding to disband, Weki Meki released a digital single as the last work for their fans.

Weki Meki is a girl group that contains a trainee from Fantagio. They consist of Kim Do Yeon, Choi Yoo Jung, Lua, Lucy, Elly, Sei, Suyeon, and Rina. The group debuted in 2017 after two of their members, Choi Yoo Jung and Kim Do Yeon completed their activities with IOI.

They released five mini albums and two single albums. During their seven years of career, Weki Meki received four awards, one of which was Rising Star from Brand of the Year.
