JAKARTA - The German government has approved the export of weapons and military equipment worth a record 13.87 billion euros ($15.9 billion or around Rp287.2 trillion) in the first half of 2026, with Ukraine being the main destination country, according to the German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action.

"Based on provisional data, in the first half of 2026, Germany issued export permits for military products with a total value of around 13.87 billion euros. The ministry explained that around 9.6 billion euros (around Rp198.8 trillion) of the total value was allocated for the export of combat weapons, while another 4.3 billion euros (around Rp89 trillion) was in the form of military equipment.

Apart from Ukraine, the five main export destinations for German military products during the period were the United States with a value of 1.64 billion euros (around Rp33.6 trillion), the Netherlands at 1.3 billion euros (around Rp26.9 trillion), the Czech Republic at 1.23 billion euros (around Rp25.4 trillion), and Lithuania at 1.21 billion euros (around Rp25 trillion).

Israel ranked sixth with an export approval value of around 799 million euros (around Rp16.5 trillion).

Russia has repeatedly stated that the supply of weapons to Ukraine hinders efforts to resolve the conflict and makes NATO member states directly involved.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov earlier said any shipment containing weapons for Ukraine would be a legitimate target for the Russian military.
