Not Part Of The MCU, Marvel Boss Calls Fantastic Four's New Film Set '60'

JAKARTA - Marvel boss Kevin Feige said the new Fantastic Four film was not part of the Marvel cinematic universe or the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). He also revealed some information about this latest reboot.

Very enthusiastic, Kevin Feige explained that the time background for Fantastic Four is not the same as the current MCU story.

(Fantastic Four) is a period film, said Kevin Feige, launching Marvel's podcast.

There is an artwork released with Johnny Storm flying in the air, forming a symbol 4 and there is a view of the city in the corner of the image. And many smart people who catch the view of the city don't look exactly like New York we know or New York that appeared in the 1960s in our world. "Smart observations," he said.

With the difference in time, the Fantastic Four film certainly does not have a single universe with the MCU which currently consists of Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Captain America, and others.

In addition, Kevin Feige also said the film will start shooting soon after Comic-Con, July 29.

"Our director, Matt Shakman has moved to London and we will start filming at the end of July," Feige said.

"I am very enthusiastic because the character is a pillar of the legend from the Marvel universe that we have never played, so I am very enthusiastic," he said.

Fantastic Four is played by Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards or Mr Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm or Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm or Human Storm, while Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm or The Thing.

This film is directed by Matt Shakman who worked on the WandaVision series and is planned to be shown in theaters on July 25, 2025.
