The 2023 Film Festival Field Is Expected To Be Able To Encourage The Cinema Expression Room

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) stated that the 2023 Medan Film Festival (MFF) will take place on November 25-26 at the North Sumatra Medan Cultural Park. This festival is expected to encourage space to share expressions for film people and the public both nationally and internationally.

Director of Film, Music and Media of the Ministry of Education and Culture Ahmad Mahendra said the collaboration room at this festival is considered to produce positive knowledge and energy so as to support the creation of quality cinema works.

"The development of the film industry in the country is rapidly felt along with the emergence of local film festivals in various regions that contribute to supporting cultural promotions," he said, quoted from a media statement, Monday, November 27.

Mahendra said the spirit of national film growth also touched the filmmakers in Medan through MFF 2023, because this city has a history record as a creator area for quality film production and has hosted FFI twice, namely in 1975 and 1983.

He said that the MFF 2023 activity was also realized to have contributed to supporting ten cultural promotion objects, especially in Medan City as well as having an impact on improving the creative economy in Medan.

A series of enlivening activities during the 2023 MFF, such as Road to MFF, short film competitions, screening films, film discussions, forum pitching, talent search, Medan film kaleidoscope, award night, art performances, and UMKM bazaars.

All activities in the 2023 MFF focus on projecting to disseminate locality values so that they can create an environment that is conducive to the development of the cinema industry in Medan City.

The implementation of the 2023 MFF also targets activities, including in the screening of selected films, exhibitions of local creativity, seminars, awards, promotions of tourist destinations, as well as strengthening community networks, which are expected to have an impact on socio-cultural.

A little historical record from the 1950s to 1980s, the City of Medan, North Sumatra, became an area with very high cinema creativity and triumphed in the Indonesian film industry, because at that time many Medan film activists created works and were then produced by production houses in Jakarta.
