PHE Records Oil Production Of 556 Thousand BOPDs And Gas 2.8 BSCFDs During 2024

JAKARTA - PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) as Pertamina's Upstream Subholding during 2024, recorded an average oil production of 556 thousand barrels of oil per day (BOPD) and 2.8 billion standard cubic feet per day (BSCFD).

"This production achievement is a contribution from 5 regions in the operational work area of Pertamina's Upstream Subholding or PHE," said PHE President Director, Chalid Said Salim in an official statement in Jakarta, Friday.

For the achievement of oil production, Regional 1 (Sumatra) contributed to the production figure of 203,000 barrels of oil per day (BOPD). Meanwhile, Regional 2 (Java) is 54 thousand BOPD; Regional 3 (Kalimantan) 58 thousand BOPD; Regional 4 (East Indonesia) 85 thousand BOPD; and Regional 5 (operational areas abroad) of 156,000 BOPD.

As for the achievement of natural gas production, Regional 1 (Sumatra) contributed a production figure of 823 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD). Meanwhile, Regional 2 (Java) is 356 MMSCFD; Regional 3 (Kalimantan) 622 MMSCFD; Regional 4 (East Indonesia) 653 MMSCFD; and Regional 5 (operative areas abroad) 375 MMSCFD.

Chalid said, in order to support national energy self-sufficiency, Pertamina's Upstream Subholding intensively carried out development drills, work over (WO) and well intervention well services (WIWS). Until the end of December 2024, the number of development drills that were successfully completed reached 814 wells, an increase compared to the realization in 2023 of 801 wells.

Meanwhile, the number of working over wells that were successfully completed until the end of 2024 was 919 wells, an increase compared to the realization of 2023 of 844 wells. Meanwhile, for the work of WIWS, until the end of 2024 the number reached 33,687 jobs, an increase compared to the achievement of 2023 of 31,686 jobs.

In addition, he continued, a number of initiatives have been carried out to increase production figures. The development of new subsurface reinterpretation results as carried out on Mount Kemala with an initial production of 735 BOPD.

Another initiative, according to Chalid, is the development of stepout/nearfield/interfield wells to obtain hydrocarbon potential in new areas, one of which is in Lembak-Kemang-Tapus with an initial production at 1,700 BOPD.

Then, the implementation of complementary technology in the form of multi-stage fracturing (MSF) in the Kotabatak field horizontal well which succeeded in increasing the production of wells with the initial production at 523 BOPD.

Another effort is to accelerate POP (Put on Production) exploration wells so that they can directly contribute to increasing oil and gas production even though it is less than 1 year since the disclosure.

The acceleration of the exploration well POP, among others, has been carried out in East Pondok Aren, Astrea, and Pinang East.

Pertamina Group's Upstream Subholding also carried out further development of steamfood in the Duri field through the North Duri Development project, the development of Low Quality Reservoir through massive fracturing activities of 169 jobs throughout 2024, and Waterfood EOR in new structures such as Tanjung, Handil, Pager and E-Main.
