Firmly, Tear Film At Ujung Sajadah Denies Asma Nadia's Statement

JAKARTA - The production house Beehave Pictures responded to the statement by writer Asma Nadia regarding the problem of the film Tears in Ujung Sajadah. Previously, Asma Nadia stated that she was disappointed because the title of the film had similarities to her novel entitled Cinta di Ujung Sajadah in 2008.

In his press conference, Asma Nadia said that she had contacted the production house to ask for a change of title because it was feared that the audience would think the film was adapted from her novel.

The demand was not followed by the production house, so Asma Nadia and her attorney brought the case to the public. They also stated that they were ready to file a lawsuit if in the future this would harm them more.

Tuesday, October 17, the film Tears in Ujung Sajadah released a statement and response through their attorney, Tegar Yusuf Putuhena. The statement uploaded on social media contains a response to claims made by Asma Nadia.

The film entitled Tears in Ujung Sajadah is the result of production from the client's production house and the whole idea of the film's story is an original work and is not an adoption or adaptation work of the novel or written work, including in this case the novel entitled Cinta di Ujung Sajadah by a client of colleagues, "said the legal representative.

According to them, the phrase At Ujung Sajadah' is a common phrase that has been widely used in various films or books. Even about the contents of the story, they mentioned the two titles in question having different stories.

"Our client has never once or in any form made or made statements either openly in public or internally, which confirms that our client's film is adoption, adaptation, and/or inspired by certain novels or written works in terms of Cinta at Ujung Sajadah by colleagues' clients," he said.

Furthermore, the production house also explained that if there is news that mentions this film as an adaptation of Asma Nadia's novel, it is not their responsibility as filmmakers. The reason is, they never made the statement.

The film Tears at Ujung Sajadah is directed by Key Mangunsong and stars Fedi Nuril, Citra Kirana, and Titi Kamal. As of last week, this film has pocketed 3 million viewers and is predicted to continue to grow.
