World's Sex Symbol, Actress Raquel Welch, Passed Away

JAKARTA - The actress known as the world's sex symbol, Raquel Welch passed away on Wednesday, February 15. The artist's manager, Steve Sauer, confirmed the news circulating.

"(Raquel) Welch passed away peacefully this morning due to illness," Steve Sauer quoted PEOPLE as saying today, Thursday, February 16th.

“Her career spans 50 years with 30 films and 50 serials. Golden Globe winner and recently successful with the wig business,” he continued.

The manager did not explain what illness Raquel Welch had. He mentioned the actress left behind two children: Damon Welch and Tahnee Welch.

Raquel Welch is an actress who made her debut in the mid 1960's. Her role in the film One Million Years B.C. and Fantastic Voyage made her popular early in her career.

Welch only had three lines in One Million Years B.C., but one of the posters featuring her in a deerskin bikini is especially eye-catching. This made Welch's figure one of the international sex symbols of her time.

Raquel Welch has posed for Playboy magazine in 1979 but she has never posed nude. She refused to appear openly even though she was popular as a sex symbol in her time.

Then she won a Golden Globe for her role in the film The Three Musketeers (1974). She also received a nomination for the film Right to Die (1987). Her most recent role was in How to Be a Latin Lover in 2017.

More than 20 film titles she has starred in. Likewise, more than 10 series that she played. The last series she starred in was Date My Dad in 2017.

Born on September 5, 1940, Raquel Welch divorced her first husband, James Welch. To make a living for her two children, she actively auditioned for roles in films. Until the end of her life, Raquel still used her husband's last name.
