Sam Smith And Kim Petras' Appearance At The 2023 Grammys Reaps US Politicians Criticism

JAKARTA - Sam Smith and Kim Petras' performances at the 2023 Grammy Awards stage received criticism from a number of US politicians. Both featured Unholy, a collaborative song that won the Best Pop/Duo Performance category.

Since being present on the red carpet, Sam Smith and Kim Petras have brought their group of dancers wearing red costumes. They also performed together on stage with a red background light and fire as a property setting.

The group of dancers surrounds Sam Smith who sings Unholy. Then Kim Petras sang his part in the bars. Harmonization between the two was accompanied by the background of the choir singing the hook.

This appearance drew criticism from a number of politicians. They think Sam Smith and Kim Petras are bringing something vicious on stage.

Politician Matt Walsh also wrote, "Not surprised to see the devil's ritual at the Grammys. Devils are a form of self-worship. Many modern pop music are Satanic. What's different is that they are now more open about it."

Before Unholy was sung, Madonna as a presenter of appearances hinted at criticism of Sam Smith's appearance.

Presenter Trevor Noah also suspected that the appearance drew criticism from allegations that Sam Smith and Kim Petras had performed worship.
