JAKARTA - The Mayor of Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan Province, Fairid Naparin, said the number of positive COVID-19 patients in the area was only one person. Fairid, who is also the Head of the COVID-19 Task Force, added that from the number of positive patients, it was recorded that the accumulation of recovered patients from exposure to the virus reached 12,610 people. The cure rate was at 96.03 percent of the total cases.

"The data released by the COVID-19 Task Force yesterday, out of a total of 13,131 positive COVID-19 patients, only one Palangka Raya resident is undergoing treatment," Fairid said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, January 15.

He explained that the positive number of COVID-19 in the capital city of Central Kalimantan province reached 0.01 of the total positive patients in the "City of Beauty" area.

Although the recovery rate continues to increase, the youngest regional head in the Central Kalimantan Province also asked the local community to continue to implement strict health protocols.

Moreover, the COVID-19 Task Force also noted that of all positive cases, 520 people in the capital city of Central Kalimantan province died after being exposed to the coronavirus.

The youngest regional head in the province, nicknamed "Bumi Tambun Bungai, Bumi Pancasila," said the decline in positive cases of COVID-19, according to him, was also a form of the city government's seriousness in tracing close contacts between the community and positive patients.

In addition, it is also due to the high participation of the community in implementing health protocols as an effort to anticipate the spread of the virus.
