JAKARTA - Volkswagen (VW) announced the suspension of production and sales from ID.4 in the United States (US) in September last year as a corrective measure against errors in the mechanism for opening electronic doors. Now, manufacturers have announced the car has been resold in the country.
Launching from InsideEVs, Tuesday, January 7, the German automaker announced that the ID.4 had been lifted and local dealers were ready to start selling and producing it again.
"We are restarting the sale with the aim of returning the ID.4 to its previous position as one of the best-selling electric vehicles in the US and Canada," VW wrote in its official broadcast.
In order to welcome the return of the crossover, VW plans to provide some competitive rental offers for ID.4 as one of the most affordable electric compact SUVs.
"To celebrate the return of cars to the market, Volkswagen will provide some very competitive rental offers to ID4.4, making one of the most affordable electric compact SUVs easier to get," added VW.

Previously, this car had problems with the incorrect electronic door opening mechanism, causing the door to open unexpectedly by involving nearly 100,000 units.
In addition, this incident also made around 200 employees laid off and the production process could be stopped until the beginning of the year.
Meanwhile, the incident triggered a recall of 98,806 units equipped with an electronic door handle that did not provide adequate water protection.
If not given protection, humidity can enter the circuit board which has the potential to trigger an "open" order while driving. The model involved is 2021 to 2024 production and the four door handles need to be replaced.
