JAKARTA - The Food and Drug Administration (BPOM) confirmed that the Indomie products reported by the Taiwanese authorities contained ethylene oxides above the standard limit did not come from official exports.

The Indomie that the Taiwanese authorities have withdrawn is the Soto Banjar Limau Kuit variant. BPOM said that the export of the product was carried out by traders without the knowledge of Indomie producer, PT Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur Tbk (Indofood).

The BPOM has received reports and explanations from manufacturers that the products found do not meet the provisions in Taiwan. These products are not officially exported from producers to Taiwan," said BPOM, Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

"The export of products is suspected to have been carried out by traders and not official importers from producers and exported without the knowledge of producers," he added.

Indofood itself is said to be tracing the raw materials used and the cause of these findings. The search results will be reported to BPOM soon.

Not only that, but BPOM also explained that standard differences were also the cause of these findings. Taiwan implements the regulation that total ethile oxide levels must not be detected in food products.

The rules are different from the standards of the United States, the European Union, and Indonesia which separate the limits of the etylene oxide requirements from 2-kloroetonel (2-CE) as an analytic.

BPOM also said that Indomie Soto Banjar's product, Limau Kuit, had obtained a distribution permit and asked the public to remain wise in responding to the report of the Taiwanese authorities. Indofood also emphasized that the product is in accordance with applicable regulations.

All instant noodles produced by the Company in Indonesia are processed in accordance with food safety standards set by BPOM RI and Standard Codex for Instant Noodles," Indofood statement.
