Jangkau 240 Points During Ramadan, Cheap Food Stations Present Basic Needs Below Price

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Food BUMD PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya (Perseroda) holds low-cost markets at 12 urban villages every day during Ramadan 1446 H/2025 AD. This program is to ensure that Jakarta residents get quality food at a more affordable price.

This was proven when the President Director of PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya (Perseroda), Gunarso Employees directly observed the operation of the implementation of the Cheap Market at the Kampung Rambutan Village Office.

"This visit is to witness firsthand how the public's interest in the implementation of the cheap market, as well as to evaluate so that this activity will be even better in the future," he said, quoted on Saturday, March 15.

Seen participating in serving buyers, Gunarso said, during the month of fasting until Eid, the implementation of cheap markets will reach up to 240 strategic points.

"If it goes according to plan, until it is close to Eid, we will reach 240 points spread across Jakarta," said Gunarso.

Through this direct review, Gunarso wants to ensure that the prices of various commodities sold in cheap markets are really affordable and cheaper than those in the market.

"We sell curly red chilies and red cayenne peppers of Rp.10,000 per 200 grams while the market price is Rp. 11,500, garlic is sold for Rp. 7,500 per 200 grams, MinyaKiat is 1 liter in size, while the selling price in the market and a number of grocery stalls is more expensive, 1 kg of sugar is Rp. 17,500 per kg and eggs are sold for Rp. 27,000 per route (one route contains 15 grains). We sell 5 kg of rice, 72,500 cheaper because usually in a number of modern retailers the price of rice, which is the same size is still sold at a price of Rp. 744,500.," he explained.

Not only these commodities, said Gunarso, in this cheap market activity, his party also sells 1 kg of flour and shallots per 200 grams each sold for IDR 10,000.

"In principle, all commodities sold in the Cheap Market are cheaper than the market price. This is deliberately done to reduce the burden on the community in meeting their needs ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1446 H," explained Gunarso.

A number of consumers, generally housewives who live close to the Kelurahan location, admit that they have been greatly helped by the activities of the Cheap Market in Kelurahan in Ramadan and ahead of Eid al-Fitr.

"I feel happy and helped by this Cheap Market activity because the various commodities sold are cheaper than the market and the nearest stall where we live. Hopefully it can be held more often," said Rini, a housewife who was met after shopping for various necessities such as Rice, Oilita, Eggs and Wheat Flour.

Gunarso further stated that the existence of food security programs initiated by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, such as subsidized cheap foods and cheap market activities, plays an important role in maintaining people's food security, especially during the holy month of Ramadan to Eid.

He explained, in addition to making it easier for people to get food at more affordable prices, this program also helps the government in controlling inflation and stabilizing prices in the market.

"With this program, it is hoped that people will not need to flock to the market to buy basic necessities, so that the pressure on prices in the market can be reduced," he said.

Gunarso ensures that rice stocks in Jakarta are in safe condition. PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya (Perseroda) currently has a warehouse capacity that can accommodate up to 25 thousand tons of rice, with a production capacity of up to 20 thousand tons.

It is hoped that with this amount the supply of rice will remain stable and can meet the needs of the people of Jakarta during Ramadan to Eid.

"Through these various strategic steps, PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya (Perseroda) continues to be committed to supporting food security in Jakarta. With more affordable prices and wider distribution, it is hoped that the people of Jakarta can undergo the holy month of Ramadan more calmly without worrying about the availability of basic foodstuffs," he said.
