Deputy Minister Of PKP Fahri Hamzah: There Needs To Be A Special Land Bank For The Indonesian Housing Sector

Deputy Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Fahri Hamzah revealed the need for a Land Bank specifically in charge of land availability for the housing sector.

"The land bank specifically for the housing sector so that it focuses and moves quickly to be formed as a Public Service Agency (BLU) under the Ministry of PKP. This Public Service Agency (BLU) will be tasked with handing over state-owned land assets from various other institutions that have the potential to build people's housing," said Fahri in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Saturday, March 8.

With the existence of a special Land Bank for the housing sector, the Deputy Minister (Wamen) of PKP hopes to encourage the supply side of the people's housing that is built.

"Because with the guarantee of land availability, it will also provide certainty for potential investors who want to help build housing," said Fahri.

He added that with the existence of a Land Bank specifically for the housing sector, it is hoped that the government can intervene in residential prices for the people, which have continued to rise due to land prices that continue to increase.

"Because in general the price of this land is 40 percent of the price of the house being sold," he said.

Fahri hopes that the Land Bank for the housing sector can be formed soon starting with the plan to start the construction of Flats at the former DPR RI housing location, in Kalibata, South Jakarta in collaboration with Investors from Qatar who have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Meanwhile, the Director General (Dirjen) of Urban Housing of the Ministry of PKP Sri Haryati said that currently the Ministry of PKP is conducting a joint discussion with the Directorate General of State Assets (DJKN) regarding the scheme for utilizing the assets in question.

For information, the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait said that Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto would directly announce additional occupancy quotas for low-income people (MBR).

Maruarar said that this was a continuation of the commitment of President Prabowo Subianto's government to prepare decent housing at affordable prices for the people of Indonesia.
