JAKARTA - One of the largest sandwich restaurant chains in the world, Subway, is partnering with PT Sari Sandwich Indonesia, a subsidiary of the food & beverage (F&B) retailer, PT Map Boga Adiperkasa Tbk (MAPB).
Map Boga is part of the country's leading retailer, PT Mitra Adiperkasa Tbk (MAPI). This agreement will allow Subway to be opened in Indonesia.
This agreement marks Subway's plans to expand internationally. This partnership will bring Subway's first restaurants in Indonesia in the fourth quarter of 2021 with openings in the Greater Jakarta area.
"The high demand for Subway restaurant presence comes from various countries in the world, including Indonesia", said Subway Chief Executive Officer, John Chidsey in an official statement, quoted Tuesday, August 24.

This is the first step in the company's global expansion plan. As a major F&B retail player in Indonesia, MAPB has more than 590 outlets in 33 cities in Indonesia operating well-known brands such as Starbucks, Pizza Marzano, Krispy Kreme, and many more.
