JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump ordered the Department of Justice (DoJ) to investigate oil companies related to high fuel prices.

"Big oil companies are not lowering prices at the pump commensurate with the sharp drop in the price of oil they pay. Prices are going down very fast! In other words, consumers are being 'ripped off'," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, as reported by ANTARA from Anadolu, Wednesday, June 24.

"I have instructed the DoJ to immediately begin investigating this. Gas prices should be coming down much faster than I am seeing right now!" he added.

Previously on Tuesday (23/6), Trump said the average price of gasoline nationwide had dropped by US$0.60 (around Rp10,771.8) per gallon compared to some time ago.

Last week, the average price of gasoline in the United States fell below $4 per gallon for the first time since March.

The decline came after the United States and Iran announced a memorandum of understanding to end the conflict between the two countries and restore shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
