Helping To Get Through Global Markets, LPEI Helps Financing The MSME Exports Of IDR 355 Billion During Semester I 2021

JAKARTA - Managing Director II of the Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI) or Indonesia Eximbank Maqin Noorhadi revealed that the export financing of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the first semester of 2021 was IDR 355 billion of the total IDR 14.5 trillion disbursed financing.

According to him, of the IDR 14.5 trillion, almost 60 percent is a restructuring to maintain the continuity of the MSME business.

"This financing also includes a special export assignment (PKE) from the government which we have also managed to disburse in the amount of IDR 408 billion", he said in an official statement, Monday, August 16.

Maqin added, the LPEI also increased the MSME class through programs targeting improvements to non-financial aspects.

The forms of these programs are the Coaching Program for New Exporters (CPNE), which is a pilot training program for new exporters, the Foreign Exchange Village, which is a commodity-based community development program to generate foreign exchange.

Then, marketing handholding, which is a program to market local SMEs through a global marketplace, is one of them. In addition, LPEI also calculates the impact of the financing provided.

"Based on a study that we conducted together with the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB), the IDR 90.4 trillion financing that has been disbursed by LPEI has had a positive impact on increasing national investment by 2.43 times or IDR 219 trillion, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) 2.45 times worth IDR 221 trillion and national exports 3.53 times worth IDR 319 trillion", he said.

On the same occasion, the Director-General of State Assets of the Ministry of Finance Rionald Silaban said that his party hopes that LPEI can continue to manage the government guarantee program and special export assignments to MSMEs affected by COVID-19.

"The goal is that MSME actors can maintain their operational activities and help the National Economic Recovery (PEN) program launched by the government", he said.

To note, the LPEI is a special mission vehicle (SMV) of the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) in increasing national exports. One of the functions of LPEI is to assist SMEs in the form of Special Export Assignments (PKE) in addition to the Government Guarantee Program (jaminah) for the corporate segment, both of which are aimed at supporting national economic recovery.

"Hopefully, the role of LPEI in helping MSMEs to improve their class to become local and global can continue to be carried out", concluded Rionald.
