The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) has completed a leadership meeting (Rapim) to discuss Apple's investment plan proposal of 100 million US dollars in Indonesia for two years on Thursday, November 21.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry Febri Hendri Antoni Arif also conveyed the results of the Rapim. He said that the Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita and his staff were reviewing the investment offer proposal from Apple Inc. worth 100 million US dollars.
One thing that was emphasized from the discussion of the proposal was that the Ministry of Industry wanted to create justice for the smartphone industry in Indonesia.
"Regarding the investment plan of 100 million US dollars, is it fair. It is just for Indonesia compared to other Apple investment destination countries, such as Vietnam, India and several other countries. Is the value of 100 million US dollars fair to Indonesia," Febri said at a press conference at his office, Thursday, November 21.
Second, is the value of 100 million US dollars also fair to smartphone investors as well as cellphone, computer and tablet (HKT) products in Indonesia.
"We know that not only Apple invests and utilizes the HKT domestic market in Indonesia, but also other smartphone manufacturers and has invested in Indonesia," said Febri.
Febri emphasized that the Ministry of Industry is assessing whether the investment value of 100 million US dollars in Apple's proposal is fair to Indonesia.
"And of course in accordance with the targets of the Government of Pak Prabowo and Gibran that we want economic growth of 7-8 percent in the hope that it will absorb a lot of labor. We hope that Apple's investment can also absorb a lot of workers," he said.

Third, the Ministry of Industry noted that Apple has not yet completed its investment commitment to the 2020-2023 period proposal of IDR 271 billion.
"Every proposal submitted by Apple has an investment period of 3 years, from 2020 and expires in the 2023 period. That leaves Rp271 billion that has not been realized, so we have not issued TKDN certification and TPP import permits for the iPhone 16 series," he said.
"So, we actually hope that Apple will realize the remaining investment, as I said earlier, is more concrete," he concluded.
