Minister Of PKP Ready To Launch Complaints Services In The Housing Sector

JAKARTA - Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait (Ara) is ready to launch a complaint service in the housing sector for the public.

"Soon we will launch, if there is a complaint service for 911 abroad, we will create a complaint service in the housing sector," said Ara in Legok, Tangerang Regency, Banten on Saturday.

The formation of the complaint service was motivated by the high number of complaints in the housing sector from the public.

"For example, what the developer promises is not in accordance with what is given to consumers. We will follow up on this, because we are also asked to create good public services," he added.

For information, the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait (Ara) stated that he would involve the National Consumer Protection Agency (BPKN) to guarantee consumer rights in the housing sector, especially for Low-Income Communities (MBR) who buy subsidized houses.

According to him, the interests of the people are the main thing. The government wants the people to get good housing quality, it certainly starts by ensuring that the developers are right and useful.

Ara asked BPKN to immediately prepare a draft memorandum of understanding for the continuation of the cooperation plan, especially in terms of handling consumer complaints in the housing sector.

With this, it can provide a deterrent effect to housing developers who are not committed to providing quality in building houses for the people.

Ara said that in recent times, the Echelon I-led PKP Ministry team has gone to the field to check the quality of subsidized houses and find some developers who are not committed to providing good quality in terms of buildings, water availability, and other public facilities.

Therefore, the Ministry of PKP has sent a letter to the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) in order to conduct an audit with a specific purpose.

Meanwhile, the Head of the National Consumer Protection Agency (BPKN) Muhammad Mufti Mubarok welcomed the cooperation plan and stated that he was committed to helping consumers in the housing sector get their rights.
