Banten Governor Andra Soni said he had deployed two heavy equipment assisted by 60 personnel to overcome river silting, the impact of flash floods accompanied by rocks, in Begog Village, Citasuk Village, Padarincang District, Serang Regency on Sunday.
The heavy equipment was sent after receiving a report from residents that there was a silting of the Cibanten tributary in the Padarincang area, due to landslides.
Previously, landslides reportedly covered roads in the area and there was silting of rivers, due to landslides that caused several houses around them to be damaged and flooded.
"So, today, Alhamdulillah, the quick response from the Head of the PUPR Service, when I only continued the video from the public and he immediately coordinated with the Cidurian Cidurian Cidanau River Basin Center (BBWSC3) which does have the authority to take care of rivers and tributaries. We will handle it first while coordinating," he said in a statement received in Banten, Antara, Sunday, March 16.
He said two heavy equipment and 60 personnel plus one heavy equipment from Cidanau Ciujung Cidurian River Basin Center (BBWSC3) were deployed to assist the temporary handling process.
"Because this is a bit long, and the volume of material covering the river is very large. This also results in disruption of irrigation flows to agriculture and God willing, we will handle this directly," he said.
Governor Andra said that his party helped clean the rock material so that the river flow could return to normal, and would prepare gabions for temporary handling.
"Next, I will ask the relevant agencies to record the affected residents. Because I saw earlier, there were houses that were almost collapsed and so on. Hopefully the government will attend and we must respond quickly, because our task again is to serve," he said.
Head of the Banten Province Public Works and Public Housing Agency, Arlan Marzan, said that based on his authority, the handling was the authority of the central government.
However, thanks to the direction of the Governor of Banten, the provincial government immediately went down to carry out temporary handling to help residents as well as coordinate with BBWSC3, because they are worried about further flooding because the rainfall is still high.
"The provincial government through the PUPR Service also deployed two heavy equipment and 60 personnel to normalize the river and clean residents' houses from avalanche materials. From BBWSC3, heavy equipment has also been deployed to accelerate handling," he added.
Meanwhile, RT Kampung Begog, Citasuk Village, Padarincang District, Samsuri said he was happy that the Governor of Banten Andra Soni had come directly to deal with the silting of the river due to flooding.
