JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has cut the requirements for a land water use permit based on the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation number 14 of 2024.

In this new regulation, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources cut the requirements from 13 to 3 requirements.

According to Yuliot, this rule was overhauled in order to provide convenience to business actors who take advantage of groundwater.

"With the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation Number 14 of 2024, we are structuring how the use of groundwater is carried out effectively and efficiently," said Yuliot Tanjung in his remarks at the Launching of Groundwater Licensing in Jakarta, Wednesday, January 8.

He ensured that business actors no longer need to repeat previous completed permits such as the company's identification number, building approval, and environmental approval.

"So, there is no need to repeat these requirements," he added.

Not only cutting the requirements, but the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources also simplifies the procedure for applying for a cultivation permit and utilization of groundwater.

Business actors were previously required to obtain approval from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources for groundwater exploration drilling and approval of feasibility studies.

With this simplification, business actors can directly apply for permits through the Ministry of Investment's Online Single Submission (OSS) and Downstreaming.

"With this process, we use the entire licensing system that has been built and managed by the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming / Investment Coordinating Agency (BKPM)," said Yuliot.
