JAKARTA - The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) picked up the ball against the families of the shooting victims at KM 45 rest area of the Merak-Tangerang Toll Road which allegedly involved three members of the Indonesian Navy.
"LPSK picked up the ball, we went to the victim's family to meet the victim's family and there have been 6 applications submitted to LPSK," said Deputy Chairperson of the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK), Susilaningtyas, Thursday, January 9, 2025.
LPSK also admitted that previously it had contacted the families of the dead and critical victims as a result of the shooting incident at KM 45 rest area of the Merak-Tangerang toll road.
"Some time ago we had contact with the victim's family and the victim. Then we wanted to make an appointment, only the victim's family said that going to LPSK was only hindered," he said.
Meanwhile, the victim's family submitted several requests for protection to LPSK.
"They submitted a request for assistance. Then there was the victim's family applying for restitution for his family or father who died. (Regarding) An application, we will still go to several people," he said.
Currently, LPSK has conducted a study stage related to application submissions.

As is known, the shooting incident of the car rental owner occurred at the rest area of Kilometer 45 Tangerang-Merak Toll Road, Jayanti, Tangerang, Banten, on Thursday, January 2 at 04.30 WIB.
In that incident, the car rental boss, IAR (Ilyas), was shot dead in the chest, while his employee, RAB, was injured.
The incident began when the witness, NN, saw several cars chasing each other and stopped at the Kilometer 45 rest area.
From one of the black minibuses, the perpetrator allegedly fired five bullets which hit two victims.
Another witness statement stated that the incident began with the misuse of IAR's rental car. The car driver allegedly cut off the vehicle track so that the victim and the team tracked down the vehicle he rented. After tracking and chasing, the victim was suddenly shot.
