Will Negotiate With Apple This Week, Minister Of Industry Prioritizes Job Creation

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) will immediately negotiate with Apple Inc management on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, until Wednesday, January 8, 2025.

In the negotiations, the Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said that his party would prioritize job creation.

"What I prioritize is job creation," said Agus in a meeting with the Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Yassierli at the Ministry of Industry Office, Jakarta, Monday, January 6.

Agus said the government would prioritize four principles in negotiations that had been delayed for months. These points are Apple's investment comparison in other countries, investment in mobile phone, handheld computer and tablet (HKT) manufacturers other than Apple in Indonesia, added value and income for Indonesia as well as employment in the ecosystem.

Even so, Agus assessed, the most important goal is to direct Apple to want to establish factories in Indonesia. Thus, he said, later there will be job creation.

Previously, the Minister of Industry said that negotiations with Apple which will take place on January 7-8, 2025 will not run easily.

According to Agus, Apple as a company definitely wants a big advantage.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Industry has principles that must be adhered to. According to him, this is intended for the benefit of the nation and state.

"With the actions that I have formed, negotiations will not be easy. Apple will place their interests or interest, what we can read is how much profit, how much money," said Agus at the Ministry of Industry office, Jakarta, Friday, January 3.
