DPR Appreciates Extension Of Electricity Tariff Stimulus During Pandemic Period

JAKARTA - Member of Commission VII DPR Mulyanto appreciates the government's decision to extend the time for giving the electricity tariff stimulus until June.

According to him, this policy is very appropriate considering the socio-economic conditions of the community have not yet recovered during the pandemic.

Mulyanto hopes that this program can be implemented in accordance with the goals and targets that have been set so that the electric stimulus can be delivered on target. Therefore, he asked the government to supervise the implementation of the program so that irregularities would not occur.

"If it is still not recovering and the people's economy is still slumping, it will be very helpful if the electricity stimulus for small communities and MSMEs can be continued until the end of 2021," said the PKS politician, Tuesday 6 April.

Previously, he said, PKS had also urged the government to extend the electricity stimulus which ended at the end of March 2021.

"Therefore, by the end of June we need to re-evaluate the status of the COVID-19 pandemic and the socio-economic conditions of the community," he said.

It is known, the government decided to continue to provide electricity sector stimulus to the public and businesses due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Stimulus or relief is given in the form of discounted electricity rates and implementation of fee waivers for subscription expenses. As well as exemption from the application of the minimum account provisions to be extended in the second quarter of 2021.

The Director General of Electricity, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Rida Mulyana, said that the Government continues to commit to providing stimulus to ease the burden on the poor and vulnerable, as well as industrial and commercial groups in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rida said that PLN was ready with a mechanism for implementing this policy.

"The government has extended the provision of the COVID-19 stimulus from the electricity sector until June with the hope that the impact of the pandemic will improve," Rida was quoted as saying on the official website of the Cabinet Secretariat.
