Pelindo Logistics Solutions Increase Elderly Empowerment Via TJSL Program

JAKARTA - PT Pelindo Solusi Logistik (SPSL) is committed to empowering the elderly by supporting education programs at the Nirmala Elderly School, North Jakarta.

SPSL is a subholding of the port BUMN of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) which is engaged in logistics and hinterland development.

SPSL Corporate Secretariat Senior VP Kiki M Hikmat said his party provided assistance in the form of a set of hadroh musical instruments, a sound system set, and two sewing machines to support teaching and learning activities through social and environmental responsibilities programs (TJSL).

He explained that the program is part of the company's efforts to improve the quality of life, especially the elderly.

Kiki said the assistance was part of SPSL's efforts to support the quality of life for the elderly so that the elderly could continue to be active socially and productive in their daily lives.

"We hope that with the assistance provided to the North Jakarta Nirmala Elderly School, the elderly can not only enrich their skills, but also be more motivated to learn, be creative, and work so that together we can create healthy elderly people who are born and inner," he said.

Meanwhile, Sri Sintawati appreciated the assistance as a concrete step in empowering the elderly in the region.

"With adequate means, the elderly can improve their skills in various fields, both music arts and practical skills such as sewing. This greatly supports improving their quality of life," said Sri.

Empowerment of the elderly is still a big challenge in Indonesia. Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) 2023, the number of elderly people in Indonesia reached 22.6 million people or 11.75 percent of the total population.

Many of them still have difficulty accessing adequate social facilities and facilities.

Through this program, SPSL also supports the achievement of several sustainable development goals (SDGs), including health and welfare, quality education, reduction in gaps and decent work.

SPSL hopes that this step will encourage more elderly people to continue to study and contribute actively to the community.
