JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo has signed a new regulation regarding national Energy Supporting Reserves.

This rule was made to ensure national energy resilience in order to realize general welfare and maintain energy sustainability throughout Indonesia.

In this regulation, energy buffer reserves are the number of available sources of energy and energy stored nationally needed to meet national energy needs for a certain period of time.

The types of CPE include gasoline or gasoline fuel which is used for transportation fuel; liquefied petoleum gas (LPG) as fuel for industrial purposes, transport, large, medium and small commercial, farmers, fishermen and households. While the last type is petroleum which is used as a odor for oil refinery operations.

Article 7 of this regulation lists the amount of CPE. For gasoline fuel, the government needs to prepare 9.64 million barrels.

"The LPG amounted to 525.78 thousand metric tons and oil in the amount of 10.17 million barrels," reads article 6 of this regulation.

The amount of reserves for these 3 energies is said to have to be fulfilled by 2035. Fulfillment is carried out by looking at the state's financial capabilities.

"The time of CPE as referred to in Article 3 letter c is a period of time determined to meet the amount of CPE as referred to in Article 6, until the period of 2035 which is fulfilled in accordance with the state's financial capacity," wrote article 7 of the regulation.
