Completed After Built Since 2017, PLTGU Tambak Loro 3 Ready To Supply Java-Bali Electricity

JAKARTA PT Hutama Karya (Persero) or HK has completed the construction of the Tambak Lorok Block 3 Gas and Steam Power Plant (PLTGU) located in Semarang, Central Java last June.

The project resulting from Operational Cooperation (KSO) with international contractors namely General Electric (GE) and Marubeni Corporation (MC) (KSO GE-MC-HK) has been completed after being worked on since 2017.

Executive Vice President (EVP) of the Corporate Secretary of Hutama Karya, Adjib Al Hakim explained that this PLTGU has a capacity of 779 Megawatts (MW) which will contribute to the fulfillment of electricity needs in Java and Bali. The investment value of this project reaches IDR 4.8 trillion.

The completion of this project adds to Hutama Karya's portfolio on the EPC project. This is a major achievement of the company in producing projects that can increase national electricity capacity, especially with the adoption of advanced technology that has never been implemented in Asia Pacific," said Adjib in an official statement, Friday, August 23.

Adjib said that in this project, Hutama Karya succeeded in completing civil work which included land repairs, structure and building construction, as well as equipment installations.

PLTGU Tambak Lorok Block 3 will be the first power plant in Asia Pacific to adopt the HA (High-efficiency Air-cooled) gas turbine technology, which allows optimal energy efficiency through a combination of gas and steam plants that have met international environmental quality management standards," he said.

Adjib revealed, in the completion of this project, his party faced the challenge of the weather because the project was in the Tanjung Emas Port area so that it often experienced tidal flooding. Another challenge is the COVID-19 pandemic.

Answering these challenges, KSO GE-MC-HK carried out several strategies through optimizing solid project management and close collaboration with local and national suppliers so that this project can be completed properly. This solid collaboration also serves as a catalyst for knowledge exchange for local companies in building PLTGU," he said.

Adjib ordered, PLTGU Tambak Lorok is a Power Plant Project owned by PT PLN Indonesia Power, a subsidiary of PT PLN (Persero), which is one of the government's assignments and specifically aims to meet the needs of electricity supply in the Java and Bali areas.

"Before operating the power plant, it is planned to be inaugurated first by the President Director of PLN," concluded Adjib.

For your information, PLTGU Tambak Lorok Block 3, Hutama Karya has pocketed a number of portfolios of power generation projects since 2010. The project includes PLTM Parmonangan-2 with a capacity of 2 x 5 MW in North Sumatra; PLTM Gunung Wugul with a capacity of 2 x 1.5 MW in West Java; and PLTM Harjosari with a capacity of 3 x 3.3 MW in Central Java.

In addition, Hutama Karya is also working on several other mega power plants, such as the Suralaya Steam Power Plant (PLTU) with a capacity of 2 x 1000 MW in Cilegon, Banten; PLTGU Muara Tawar with an Add on 650 MW capacity in Bekasi, West Java; and PLTU Grati in Pasuruan, East Java.
