CIKARANG - Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) assessed that Finance Minister Sri Mulyani was not transparent about the contents of the 26,415 containers held at the port and then removed from the port in May 2024.

Responding to the allegations, the Director of Communication and Guidance for Users of Customs and Excise Services, Nirwala Dwi Heryanto, admitted that he was confused by the statement made by the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry, Febri Hendri Antoni Arif.

Because, he said, the Directorate General of Customs and Excise had communicated it by letter.

"I'm also confused that I'm not transparent, people have been answered, there are attachments. That's it. The return period for rhymes in the media is not funny," he said when met at the Customs Hoarding Site (TPP) Cikarang, West Java, Tuesday, August 6.

Nirwala also regretted the actions of the Ministry of Industry which actually brought this issue to the public.

According to him, between ministries can write to each other if the data provided is not complete.

"Just use a letter, we will answer the letter," he said.

Previously, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry Febri Hendri Antoni Arif assessed that Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani had not been transparent regarding the contents of 26,415 containers that were detained and then released from the port in May 2024.

In fact, continued Febri, the Ministry of Industry needs detailed information on the data to mitigate the impact of the release of 26,415 containers stuck to the industry.

As a result, the Ministry of Industry has not been able to formulate policies or anticipatory steps to remove the contents of the container.

The Minister of Industry has received a reply letter from the Minister of Finance submitted and signed by the Director General of Customs and Excise. The letter from the Director General of Customs and Excise was received on August 2, 2024, two weeks after the letter was signed, on July 17, 2024," he said in an official statement, Monday, August 5.

"Unfortunately, we cannot use the data submitted in the letter to mitigate the impact of the release of tens of thousands of containers on the industry because they are too macro, not detailed and only partially. The impression is that there is content data from the tens of thousands of containers that are 'hidden'," he continued.
