Basuki Reveals The Reason Jokowi Hasn't Tried Drinking Water Directly At IKN

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono has opened his voice regarding President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who has not tried clean water that can be drunk directly from the tap in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN).

Basuki said that the reason Jokowi had not tried drinking water was because it was not allowed at that time. Because Basuki himself drank clean water at IKN which was at the Water Processing Installation (IPA).

"At that time it was not allowed. Because if you look at the Instagram PUPR, I drank it at the IPA. It has not been distributed," said Basuki when met at his office, Friday, August 2.

He said the water pipeline from IPA to the reservoir has a length of 16 kilometers (km). Meanwhile, the pipeline from the reservoir to the area (persil) has a distance of 22 km. In this case, Basuki said that the new pipe was installed, so that the safe tap water to drink is currently only at IPA IKN.

According to him, cleaning needs to be done in these various pipelines. "That's a newly installed pipe, right, maybe there's still dust from the factory," he said.

Meanwhile, in the IKN Presidential Palace area, Basuki said, checking the quality of drinking water is still being processed. He assessed that water checks were not only carried out by his party, but would involve a third party, namely PT Sucofindo to ensure safety.

"I just checked with the PUPR Drinking Water Engineering Center. However, later I will ask PT Sucofindo (to check), so it's fair. Not just PUPR (checking)," he concluded.

Previously, President Jokowi had stayed in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan. While staying overnight, Jokowi said support facilities at IKN were already running such as electricity, water and the internet.

Water in IKN can be drunk directly from the tap because it already has quality such as drinking water. Even so, Jokowi said he had not tried drinking water directly from the tap.

"I haven't tried it yet. Later it will be wrong, what will happen later," he told reporters at the IKN Presidential Office as quoted from the Cabinet Secretariat YouTube, Monday, July 29.
