The Rise Of Illegal Imported Goods Entered The Republic Of Indonesia, Minister Of Industry Agus Expressed This Mode

Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita revealed, various modes of entry of illegal imported goods into Indonesia.

Based on the report he received, the most widely used mode by business actors was to change the HS Code to a game at the level of import approval (PI).

"The method is to transfer HS. For example, in a 12-inch SNI steel product, the Ministry of Industry stipulates that SNI must be 12 inches, goods come from certain countries 11 inches. HS is what he magics," said Minister of Industry Agus when met at his office, Friday, July 19.

"They don't use HS properly or don't have the SNI obligation that we have determined. However, when they leave, they will use HS," he continued.

Agus said that there were various reasons that were carried out by business actors so that they changed HS, namely to avoid higher import duties, to avoid the obligation to fulfill SNI, to avoid the imposition of lartas to other obligations that were excluded from the original HS of goods.

"We know it's the practices. Because law enforcement is not serious, that's a classic problem," he said.

Therefore, Agus said, his party welcomed the establishment of a task force for monitoring illegal imported goods which was expected to limit the entry of illegal imported goods into the country.

The Minister of Trade (Mendag) Zulkifli Hasan officially formed a task force (Satgas) to supervise certain goods. The task force will later oversee import activities, especially illegal imports that harm the domestic industry.

The man who is familiarly called Zulhas said the task force would oversee seven types of imported commodities. Among them, textiles and textile products (TPT), finished clothing, ceramics, electronics, beauty or cosmetics, textiles have finished and footwear.

"The rise of products categorized as illegal is because they are far from the proper price and cannot be accounted for by SNI and others. So, there were layoffs, factory closures and others. Therefore, we formed a Task Force," he said during a press conference at the Ministry of Trade office, Jakarta, Friday, July 19.

The task force was formed based on Decree (SK) number 932 of 2024 and has been effective from today.
