Pertamina Hulu Rokan Production 1.45 Million Barrels Of Oil Per Day In April 2024

JAKARTA - Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) has produced 1,445,802 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) sourced from the results of the first and second well production processes during April 2024.

"The oil and gas production during April 2024 came from the first well on April 25, 2024, with 802 BOPD of oil production, and a second well a few days later as many as 1,445,000/BOPD," said Executive Vice President (EVP) Upstream Business Edwil Suzandi in a release received in Pekanbaru, Riau, quoted from Antara, Thursday 9 May.

Edwil said that thanks to collaboration and synergy between various functions, PHR managed to drain oil from Kopar's new wells to fill the farmer's collecting station (GS) facilities which were then sent to Dumai Terminal.

He said, for the work and production process at Kopar Field, it was running safely and safely. PHR has succeeded in increasing oil production from the Old Square of the Rokan Block.

"The PHR maximizes the aging oil field and has even been unproductive in the Rokan Working Area (WK) so that it returns and continues to produce," he also said.

He explained that the aging and half-century-old oil field in the Rokan WK turned out to have the potential for production development, including the Kopar Field which was discovered in 1974 with the category of small field disclosure and its location is in the central part of the Rokan WK.

Kopar Field, he said, is still productive as a primary production field in the Sumatra Light Oil (SLO) area located in the work area of zone 2 and zone 3 PHR. Almost 9 years of discontinued without drilling and by the end of 2023 a number of new Kopar well drilling can be taxed. The results of the initial production process contributed quite significantly to PHR.

"The initial process of drilling Kopar wells was affected by flooding due to the high rainfall that occurred in early 2024 which resulted in the overflow of the Rokan river and swamps in the drilling area, including road access to the location. As a result of this condition, operational activities must be temporarily suspended, including evacuating work teams and drilling equipment," he also said.

Head of SKK Migas Representative, Sumbagut Rikky Rahmat Firdaus, expressed his appreciation for being reactivated by old wells in Kopar Field.

As the largest production and oil lifting working area in Indonesia, Rikky hopes that potentially productive old well resources can continue to be reactivated.

"Since the transfer of management from PT CPI to PT PHR on August 9, 2021, the average production of WK Rokan has reached 161 thousand barrels of oil per day (BOPD), an increase from the previous 158 thousand BOPD," said Rikky.
