JAKARTA - PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) and PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) have collaborated to review the use of gas compressors for PHE's operational and production needs.

The cooperation between the two companies is a tangible manifestation of synergy within the Pertamina Group in supporting the Government's program, namely the energy transition through natural gas utilization, to realize Net Zero Emission in 2060.

Pertagas President Director Gamal Imam Santoso, said this Memorandum of Understanding would be an important milestone in the cooperation relationship between PHE and Pertagas, as well as providing sustainable benefits for both companies in the development of the energy industry in Indonesia.

"Currently, the majority of Pertagas' business is in the midstream business sector of PHE. Furthermore, this memorandum of understanding will be followed up with the implementation of a study on the use of gas compressor units," said Gamal, Wednesday, April 24.

Gamal said, cooperation with PHE is one of Pertagas' efforts in optimizing existing assets that can provide mutual benefits for both parties and Pertamina Holding in a sustainable manner.

The Pertagas Turbine Compressor Gas Assets (GTC) can be used to increase gas pressure from supply sources in order to enter a gas network that has a higher pressure. The utilization of GTC is generally used in gas transmission pipes and in gas processing.

So far, GTC has been used as the main facility to increase pressure and maintain the reliability of gas distribution in Pertagas' transmission pipeline. It is hoped that with the follow-up to this Memorandum of Understanding, PHE and Pertagas can jointly conduct a study on the utilization of GTC owned by Pertagas for the development of gas fields belonging to PHE.

Meanwhile, from the PHE side, the use of GTC is estimated to have the potential to be an option to save production costs and develop the PHE gas field.

Director of Production and Development of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Awang Lazuardi, said that PHE's cooperation with Pertagas is a form of Pertamina Group synergy which is expected to be able to provide added value and mutual benefits for both companies. This follow-up collaboration will be guided by HSSE, Compliance, Financial and Business Growth in each company.

"Hopefully in the future this potential cooperation can be explored not only upstream, but also in other assets to provide benefits and impacts of sustainable business development," said Awang.
