The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) has collaborated on industrial vocational education and training with the Malikal Zentrum Institute (MZI) which is a representation of the German Senior Experten Service (SES) institution in Indonesia.

This collaboration is implemented through the signing of a memorandum of understanding or MoU on the development of industrial vocational education and training represented by the Ministry of Industry's Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI).

The head of BPSDMI Masrokhan assessed that the cooperation was aimed at ensuring that the human resources produced by the Ministry of Industry's vocational education unit could enter the German labor market.

"Furthermore, to improve the competence of teaching staff by sharing the expertise and skills of German experts that we carried out through the SES and Ausbildung programs facilitated by MZI," Masrokhan said in his official statement, Friday, April 5.

Masrokhan said the scope of the cooperation was the holding of preparation training to participate in the Ausbildung program in Germany for alumni of the Ministry of Industry's vocational education unit as well as promotion of job opportunities in the German industry.

Ausbildung is a program to produce professional human resources specialists according to the latest industrial needs standards in Germany. The duration of the Ausbildung program is approximately three years, which depends on the major or field of expertise chosen.

According to Masrokhan, there are 348 majors or Ausbildung expertise that can be followed by training participants. During the program, participants will be guided by professional mentors certified as Meister and at the middle and end of the program participants are required to take competency exams to ensure expertise according to German industry standards.

He hopes that this collaboration can be a pioneer in other collaborations to improve the quality of industrial vocational in the country.

"I hope that there will be many cooperation programs that will continue after the signing of this MoU. Education units can utilize and improve their competence through the SES, while alumni who are interested can study and work in Germany through the Ausbildung program," he said.

Meanwhile, the Director of the Malikal Zentrum Institute (MZI) Adam Pamma said the memorandum of understanding that was made also opened up opportunities for facilitation of the Ministry of Industry's vocational education unit cooperation with education and industrial units in Germany.

Malikal assessed that this could increase the competitiveness and quality of industrial human resources in the eyes of the world.

"We hope that the memorandum of understanding that we signed can be followed up immediately through more concrete steps. We are grateful for being involved in cooperation related to the development of industrial human resources in Indonesia," he said.
