JAKARTA Indonesian rock climbing athlete, Veddriq Leonardo, is included in the list of nominees for the 2024 Best Athlete for the International World Games Association (IWGA) version.

Veddriq is one of the 22 athletes, spouses, and teams included in the list. This series was just released by IWGA on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.

"Each candidate is nominated by each International Federation (IF) for their extraordinary achievements and contributions to the sport by 2024," reads the IWGA statement on their official website.

Veddriq is the only Indonesian athlete to be included in the nominee list. He was recommended by the International Rock Climbing Federation (International Federation of Sport Climbing).

The 27-year-old athlete passed 2024 with his best achievement in defeating Wu Peng from China to win the men's speed number gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The voting period for this prestigious award will officially open on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 12.00 GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) or 19.00 WIB.
