JAKARTA - In celebration of World Women's Day which is celebrated every March, Sun Life Indonesia presents an inspirational session of Sun Entrepreneur with hundreds of women who discuss entrepreneurial-based empowerment in the insurance agency distribution industry.

Through this session, Sun Life Indonesia offers a way to achieve financial independence and support their families through entrepreneurship. This provides a platform to show their talents, pursue their passion, and fulfill their aspirations.

In recent years, Indonesia has seen a tremendous surge in women's entrepreneurship, with women increasingly breaking barriers and trying various economic sectors. A total of 64.5 percent of the total micro and medium-sized small business actors (MSMEs) in Indonesia are women. From crowded cities to remote villages, Indonesian women are increasingly embracing entrepreneurship as a way towards financial independence, empowerment, and social impact.

The entrepreneurial landscape in Indonesia is undergoing a significant transformation, with women playing an increasingly important role. There is a significant increase in the number of Indonesian women who aspire to become entrepreneurs. This trend reflects a shift in social norms, as more women are looking for opportunities to pursue their passion, contribute to the economy, and create positive changes in their community.

Kai Simanungkalit as VP Branding, Communications & Client Experience Sun Life Indonesia revealed that entrepreneurship also offers flexibility and autonomy, allowing women to balance their professional ambitions with family responsibilities.

"This flexibility is very attractive for mothers, who want to be actively involved in their children's education and their entrepreneurship business," he said in a written statement, Friday, March 22.

Despite the increasing momentum, female entrepreneurs in Indonesia face a number of challenges that hinder their progress and success. These challenges include gender stereotypes and social norms, access to capital and resources, balancing family responsibilities, to limited access to networks and mentors.

"Support from organizations and business communities can play an important role in providing mentorship, networking opportunities, and access to the market for female entrepreneurs. This fact encourages us as a life insurance company to invite Indonesian women to start their business with Sun Life Indonesia through the Sun Entrepreneur program. By overcoming challenges and creating an environment that supports entrepreneurship for women, I believe Indonesian women can challenge stereotypes and make meaningful contributions to the economy and society," added waro.

Sun Entrepreneur is designed to print entrepreneurs in the field of independent agency distribution through intensive training programs with professionals in the insurance industry regarding entrepreneurship, creativity, and self-developing for 6 months. Furthermore, they can run their systems and within 2.5-3 years they can have their own agency distribution business.

To build a more dynamic and visionary entrepreneurial community, the Sun Entrepreneur program series begins with a community-based sharing session with Ibnu Jamil and Ririn Ekawati as Sun Entrepreneur Ambassador and other business actors who have succeeded in proving success in building their dream business.
