JAKARTA - PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) Refinery Unit IV Cilacap inaugurated the Solar Power Plant (PLTS) with a capacity of 0.99 Megawatt peak (MWp) on Thursday, March 21.
The construction of this PLTS is the result of Pertamina Group's synergy, namely between KPI and Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE).
The inauguration was carried out by the Director of Operations of KPI Didik Bahagia and the Director of Strategic Planning and Business Development of Pertamina NRE Fadli Rahman, as well as GM Refinery Unit IV Cilacap Edy Main January.
The PLTS with a total installed capacity of 0.99 MWp was built in 2 separate areas, namely 495 KWp in the Gunung Simping Comperta and 504 KWp in the Tegalkamulyan Comperta. The PLTS is used to meet the electricity needs of two Pertamina housing complexes in the Cilacap Refinery.
"We are proud to be part of the decarbonization efforts carried out in the Pertamina International Refinery area. The use of PLTS in the Cilacap Refinery is one of the forms of collaboration between Pertamina NRE and Pertamina International Refinery," said Director of Strategic Planning and Business Development at Pertaina NRE, Fadli Rahman in a statement to the media, Thursday, March 21.
Fadli continued that Pertamina's decarbonization initiative was a serious effort and part of Pertamina's commitment to implementing the ESG aspect. One of these seriousness is shown by Pertamina's ESG score which is getting better from year to year.
On the same occasion, the Director of KPI Operations, Didik Bahagia conveyed the high commitment of KPI which actually supported decarbonization in the operating unit.
"By integrating decarbonization into the operating unit, KPI is ready to have a real and positive impact on the environment while contributing to achieving global sustainability goals," said Didik Bahagia.

With this PLTS, it is estimated that it will distribute energy of 1421 MWh per year and reduce carbon emissions by almost 1083 tons of CO2 per year.
Overall, until now, PLTS installed in the KPI operating area has reached a capacity of 9.87 MWp, namely Dumai Refinery 3.77 MW, Plaju Refinery 2.25 MW, Balongan Refinery 1.51 MW, and Cilacap Refinery 2.34 MW. The accumulated energy distributed reaches 10 million kWh and decreased emissions of more than 6 million tons of CO2, or equivalent to planting 7,000 adult trees.
