Firli Bahuri's Case, Metro Police Chief: Just Fulfill 4 Instructions, One Two Months Complete

JAKARTA - Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto stated that the handling of the alleged extortion case involving former Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri will soon be completed.

This is because investigators only need to complete four instructions from the research prosecutor in the process of fulfilling the case file.

"For Mr. Firli, there are almost two cases, one of which is already frim, only has to fulfill 4 clues," said Karyoto at the Metro Jaya Police Year-End Release event, Tuesday, December 31.

The four clues are predominantly material. Some examples include complete police reports, investigation warrants, examination report (BAP) and so on.

"If we say formal and material, this is a lot of meterile and that's just a cross-check," he said.

That way, Karyoto estimates that the handling of the alleged extortion case of Firli Bahuri against former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo or SYL will be completed in one to two months.

"Hopefully, we will try to finish it in one month or two months," said Karyoto.

Responding to the statement, the Director of Special Criminal Investigation at the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak, agreed that the handling of the case would be completed in the near future.

"Ready soon, it's a souvenir," said Ade.

As a reminder, there are two alleged criminal acts that are being investigated regarding Firli Bahuri. First, the alleged extortion of SYL as regulated in Article 12e or 12B or Article 11 in conjunction with Article 65 of the Criminal Code.

In this case, investigators have examined 134 witnesses and experts to date. The number is likely to continue to grow as the case is not completed.

The second alleged criminal act is a meeting with the berkaka party, namely SYL as stated in Article 36 junto Article 65 of the KPK Law.

In handling the case, 39 witnesses and experts have been examined. However, Firli Bahuri's status is still being reported.

"The total number of witnesses who have been examined is 37 people, with details, 7 members of the National Police, 16 KPK employees, 16 Ministry of Agriculture employees, 4 civilians, 1 criminal expert, and 1 procedural law expert," said Ade.
