Holds Discussion With All OECD Members, Coordinating Minister Airlangga: Important Opportunity To Realize Indonesia Gold 2045

JAKARTA - The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs by holding an Indonesian Accession Discussion with the Head of State Representatives for Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) with the aim of realizing the development target in accordance with the mandate of the 2045 Golden Indonesia Vision.

"This is an important opportunity for OECD members and partners, as the first country in Southeast Asia to be invited to open an OECD accession discussion and the country with the largest economy in the region with the fastest growth in the world," said Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Wednesday, February 28, 2024.

Airlangga said that Indonesia is determined to deepen integration and open a transformative path towards growth and resilience for everyone.

In addition, Airlangga expressed his appreciation to OECD members who showed extraordinary support in realizing Indonesia's demand within 7 months.

"Indonesia has worked hard to explain the reason we have to join the OECD. Our job is to show common ideas and benefit each other and that we are significant global players and continue to grow," he said.

According to Airlangga, Indonesia is the third largest democracy in the world, with 205 million voters and one of the highest voter participation rates among OECD members.

He added that Indonesia had just finished holding the general election (Pemilu) and had shown the results through the quick count results where most people believed in the results.

"This month, our national elections show that our democracy is increasingly mature, dynamic, and diverse. In particular, voters support a new government that promises stability and prosperity," he said.

For information, there are 33 member countries of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) that are present, including Japan, to Germany.
