The Directorate General Of Customs And Excise Installs A Container Scanper To Prevent Illegal Goods From Entering

The Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) of the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) has officially imposed a scanner for imported and export containers at Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta.

The Director General of Customs and Excise, Askolani, said that the implementation of a container scanner for imported and export goods was carried out in order to support the 7th Asta Cita of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, namely to combat all forms of smuggling of export and import goods.

"As a form of government's efforts to increase efficiency, transparency, and security of goods flow, and ensure improvement in port governance," he said during the inauguration at the Koja TPK Temporary Hoarding Site, Wednesday, December 18.

Meanwhile, the provision of a container scanner refers to the Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) Number 109/PMK.04/2020 concerning the Customs Area and Temporary Hoarding Site.

Askolani explained that with a tool that is able to scan the contents of the container quickly and accurately without the need to physically open this container, the inspection process becomes more efficient, reduces waiting times, and prevents smuggling illegal or dangerous goods.

In addition, Askolani said that currently there are 10 container scanners in 5 locations at Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta.

"To be able to implement and implement a new scanner that is very significant and important to be able to provide better services and supervision in export and import activities in Indonesia," he said.

Askolani said that in 2024, the number of imported containers at Tanjung Priok Port was recorded at 1,296,779 and the number of export containers was 765,143 containers.

Although the trend in the number of imported and export containers in 2024 shows a significant decline from 2023, namely 1,316,322 for imports and 1,1 13,748 for exports, in 2024 there will be a significant spike in customs violations.

In 2024, there were 1,849 cases of customs violations (operative target results), with 1,744 imported cases and 105 export cases. This figure is up from 2023, with 597 cases.

In addition, in 2024, there will also be an increase in prosecution carried out by the Tanjung Priok Customs and Excise.

Overall in 2024, there were 2,142 customs violations, with 2,048 import violations and 94 export violations, after previously in 2023 there were only 1,005 customs violations.

Of the total in 2024, it is known that 1,198 cases were violations of prohibition and restrictions, which increased from 2023 with 248 cases.

"With a new scanner, we hope that we can minimize cases of violations," he said.
