Anticipating The Increase In Prices Of Basic Materials Ahead Of Ramadan, The East Java Provincial Government Holds Cheap Markets

SURABAYA - The East Java Industry and Trade Office (Disperindag) held a low-cost market in its office yard, Sunday 25. The cheap market was held ahead of Ramadan because the prices of basic commodities tended to increase.

In this cheap market operation, several basic commodities were sold, including medium rice at a price of Rp. 51,000 per 5 kilograms (kg) or Rp. 10,200 per kg, sugar at a price of Rp. 15,000 per kg, chicken eggs Rp. 24,000 per kg, and cooking oil at a price of Rp. 13,000 per liter.

Each buyer is only allowed to buy a maximum of 2 sacks of packaged 5 kg, sugar, and chicken eggs for a maximum of 1 kg and cooking oil for a maximum of 2 liters.

Acting Governor of East Java, Adhy Karyono, said that this cheap market is a form of concern for the East Java Provincial Government to the community. The reason is, ahead of Ramadan, the prices of basic commodities tend to increase.

"If we also see that this price fluctuates, let alone we know that soon we will both carry out Ramadan worship and Eid al-Fitr, there will definitely be too expensive or price increases, hopefully not," said Adhy Karyono, Sunday, February 25.

Adhy Karyono added that cheap market activities are one of the many policies that are beneficial to the community from the Governor of East Java for the 2019-2024 period, Khofifah Indar Parawansa.

During Khofifah's leadership, cheap markets have been regularly held and have been carried out in all regencies/cities in East Java.

"This cheap market has actually been designed when Mrs. Khofifah and Mr. Emil took office, the wish is Mr. Acting, please what I have done, especially for the poor, continue to be continued and even increased, one of which is a low-cost market, it is a mandate from Mrs. Khofifah, I only carry out and strengthen it," said Adhy Karyono.
