JAKARTA - Minister of Cooperatives and Small Micro Enterprises (Menkop UKM) Teten Masduki stated that cooperative management must be developed by young people with technological capabilities and innovate to carry out business opportunities that can provide mutual welfare.

"Young people are advancing for the development of new business technology," said Teten during a dialogue with skin industry business players at the Production House with Skin Commodities, Guntur Street, Garut Kota District, Garut Regency, West Java, quoted from Antara, Saturday, February 17.

He said cooperative managers must take new, more modern steps, and dare to make changes in their cooperative systems, not continuously implementing old models that will not develop.

So that the cooperative can be more advanced, he continued, it is necessary to make changes that the manager can do by young people, no longer by the elderly.

"So cooperatives must be open to change, their cooperatives must modernize, old model cooperatives will not develop," he said.

He suggested that if the old management could not change for the progress of their cooperatives, then it would be better to create a new manager with a young manager and dare to take steps to run a business together.

Teten also reminded that in managing cooperatives, it is not permissible for semi-community organizations or social organizations to seek grants and donations everywhere, then the cooperative should not have the advantage of being controlled by one person.

"The profit is not controlled by one person, the benefits are enjoyed together," he said.

He added that cooperatives should not be managed and their advantages by their own families, the way they manage it is the wrong cooperative system.

"The cooperative is controlled by the family, it's 'ngaco'," he said.

He revealed that the government is ready to help cooperatives that want to develop by running their business with their profits, they must be enjoyed together.

In addition, he continued, people who want to form cooperatives must have a fairly large capital, if they only have a capital of Rp. 15 million, they should not make cooperatives but social gathering activities.

"If it's Rp. 15 million, don't make a cooperative but make an arisan first," he said.
