JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno hopes that the F1 Powerboat (F1H20) event, which will be held in Lake Toba, on March 1-3, 2024, can increase the multiplier effect in the Indonesian economy with an increase target of 20-25 percent.

For 2023 itself, the economic impact of F1 Powerboat reached Rp391 billion. Sandiaga hopes that this event can make a bigger contribution.

"So, we hope that this year there will be an increase of 20-25 percent and the economic impact will be greater because it further emphasizes creative and cultural economic products," Sandiaga said as quoted from the official website of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Friday, February 9.

Sandiaga said that creative economy actors around Lake Toba had received training to support the success of the 2024 F1 Powerboat.

"We encourage the culinary products, craft products and fashion from Lake Toba to grow because we have also carried out training for various creative economy centers around Lake Toba," he said.

He also encouraged digital media to work more massively in reporting on the F1 Powerboat event. "So, if those who watch live there are 100 thousand-200 thousand, but those who watch in their digital media are millions and it turns out that they encourage foreign tourist visits to Indonesia," he said.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said, F1 Powerboat 2024 will experience fundamental changes, namely combining the beauty of Lake Toba with Batak culture.

"So, we will make many side events to promote culture or Batak culture combined with the beauty of Lake Toba," he added.

The plan is that 18 international racers from 10 countries will participate in the F1 Powerboat which will be held again in Balige, Lake Toba, North Sumatra, on March 2-3, 2024.
