Welcoming Long Weekend Isra Mikraj-Imlek, KAI Adds 10 Long-distance Train Trips

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) added 10 long-distance train trips to serve passengers during the long weekend of the Isra Mikraj holiday and leave with the Chinese New Year. With this addition, the total number of trains operated is 1,085.

For your information, the Isra Mikraj-Imlek holiday falls from Wednesday 7 February to Sunday 11 February 2024.

The long-distance trains that were added to their journey were 4 trips from Manahan Train (Gambir-Solo Balapan pp), 4 Sancaka Train trips (Yogyakarta-Surabaya Gubeng pp), and 2 Kaligung train trips (Cirebon Prujakan-Semarang Poncol pp).

KAI's VP of Public Relations Joni Martinus said the additional frequency of train travel was aimed at anticipating an increase in customer volume during the long weekend holiday in early February 2024.

"The increase in the number of train trips is part of KAI's commitment to improve services to customers, especially during high seasons like this long weekend," said Joni in an official statement, Monday, February 5.

Based on observations on Monday, February 5, Joni said that the total long-distance train tickets sold for the period Wednesday, February 7 to Sunday, February 11, were 462,592 tickets or an average of 92,518 tickets per day.

"This number is still 64 percent of the total long-distance train tickets sold as many as 722,472 tickets," he said.

KAI hopes that people who have planned to travel during the long weekend period Isra Mikraj and leave with the Chinese New Year and do not yet have tickets, immediately to buy it either through the KAI Access application, the kai.id website, or other channels in collaboration with KAI.

"If the desired ticket runs out, the customer can select an alternative date and route or take advantage of the Connecting Train feature in the Access by KAI application which will help provide travel options by combining a connecting train schedule," he said.

Joni added that so far the favorite routes for the people during the long weekend period are Jakarta-Surabaya pp, Jakarta-Solo pp, Jakarta-Malang pp, Yogyakarta-Banyuwangi pp, Blitar-Bandung pp and other relations.

"In providing rail transportation, especially during the long weekend period, KAI ensures that people will be safe and free from congestion on the highway. So that vacation moments with family or friends can be enjoyed by customers comfortably and comfortably," concluded Joni.
