Modern Tools Make Farming Easier and More Efficient

JAKARTA - Food security is one of the issues that is increasingly gaining attention amid the increasing food needs of the community.

However, efforts to maintain food availability do not only depend on the size of agricultural land. The ability of farmers to cultivate land faster, more efficiently, and productively is also an important factor for crop yields to continue to increase amid the challenges of labor shortages in the agricultural sector.

In the midst of more and more young people who are interested in modern agriculture, the use of technology is one of the factors that make this sector more attractive.

The presence of modern agricultural machinery and tools changes the way of farming which has been synonymous with heavy work to be more practical and efficient.

One of the innovations introduced at the Inagritech 2026 event is a compact tractor with a capacity of 40 HP which is designed to support various agricultural activities, ranging from soil processing, planting, crop care, to logistics needs in agricultural areas.

With a relatively compact size, this tool is intended to answer the needs of small to medium-scale farmers who want a more effective work process.

Country Manager of RMA Indonesia, Toto Suharto, assessed that mechanization is now an important need to support the national agricultural sector.

"Food security requires not only hard work, but also the right technology. We believe that mechanization is no longer an option, but a necessity to help farmers increase productivity, efficiency, and sustainability of agricultural businesses. Through Mahindra OJA 3140, we want to present a solution that is truly relevant to the needs of Indonesian farmers," said Toto at JiExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, recently.

The technology on modern tractors is also designed to be able to work in various land conditions. In addition to offering adequate power, the drive and transmission systems used help farmers carry out various jobs with more precision.

Fuel efficiency and ease of operation are also added value that are considered important, especially for farmers who are beginning to switch from manual work to mechanization.

According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the agricultural sector is still one of the pillars of the national economy with a contribution of 12.67 percent to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the first quarter of 2026.

This condition shows that increasing agricultural productivity will have an impact not only on the welfare of farmers, but also on food security and overall economic growth.

On the other hand, agricultural modernization is not enough just by presenting more sophisticated tools. Support in the form of availability of after-sales services, distribution that reaches various regions, to assistance to farmers is also an important part so that technology can be optimally utilized.

As many technologies are present in the agricultural sector, farming methods continue to evolve. If in the past, work in the rice fields was synonymous with great energy and time, now technology opens up opportunities for farmers to work smarter without reducing the quality of the results.

Modern agriculture is slowly becoming a new image of a profession that is adaptive, productive, and ready to answer future challenges.

Toto Suharto said that development in the agricultural sector would continue as part of efforts to support the transformation of the agricultural sector in Indonesia.
