PTK Develops Clean Energy-Based Waste Management Through Residential Energy Villages In Jambi

PT Pertamina Trans Kontinental (PTK) which is a subsidiary of PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS), Sub Holding Integrated Marine Logistics (SH IML) officially launched the Energy Independent Village Program in Tanjungsari Village, Jambi City, on October 24, 2023.

The Independent Energy Village Program is one form of PTK's Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) under the pillars of Pertamina Transko Care Environment, namely the TJSL program which focuses on environmental conservation. This Jambi Dikari Energy Village was previously the Omah Sinau Waste Bank House which was developed to provide more benefits for the surrounding community.

Before becoming the Village of Energy Berdikari, for the last 2 years this waste bank had managed inorganic waste which was dominated by plastic and paper into various souvenir products such as children's toys and various other creative products. Until 2023, Pertamina Trans Continual developed clean energy-based organic waste management.

Sonny Mirath, as Vice President of Legal & Relations of PTK, said that Jambi's Dikari Energy Village was the first for PTK and SH IML. The management of organic waste in the Desa Energi Berdikari has three renewable developments. First, organic waste becomes feed in the Cultivation of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) Maggots.

Second, this Maggot cultivation is used as the main ingredient for catfish feed in a bioflok. Third, all organic waste management operations use Solar Power Plants (PLTS) which are also renewable clean energy.

The three developments complement the management of household waste into added-valued products, such as aromatic wax from crude oil processing, vertical garden farming system.

"Through this program, PTK contributes to reducing carbon emissions through energy transformation by providing access to renewable energy for communities at the local level, including reducing household waste, both inorganic and organic, so that we can reduce waste from the first source," said Sonny.

In line with Sonny, Vega Pita as the Manager of Stakeholders Management PIS explained that this program is a program to provide access to Renewable Energy (ET) to the community which is used for community economic empowerment activities with the main goal being the independence of Energy and Community Economic Independence. This is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) commitment of Pertamina.

This Dikari Energy Village is also the 64th Independent Energy Village in Pertamina Group and makes people better understand Renewable Energy through education carried out by Pertamina Group.

The Deputy Mayor of Jambi, Maulana, who was also present in this activity really appreciated the initiatives and initiatives taken by PTK. He explained that PTK's efforts to provide access to renewable energy to local communities were the right steps to accelerate energy transformation in a more sustainable direction.

"In an effort to accelerate the transformation of renewable energy, the government certainly cannot move alone. The government needs support from various parties, one of which is business actors, both state-owned and private. Thank you, we say to PTK, hopefully initiatives like this can also be carried out by other companies," he explained.
