JAKARTA - The Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) is studying the concept of a Human Rights City or a city based on Human Rights (HAM) as one of the efforts to strengthen governance in the IKN development.
The idea emerged when the Head of the IKN Authority Basuki Hadimuljono received a visit from Deputy Minister of Human Rights Mugiyanto and his staff at the IKN Authority office, Nusantara, Monday, June 22.
During the meeting, the Ministry of Human Rights and the IKN Authority discussed various aspects of development in IKN, ranging from fulfilling community rights, worker welfare, access to basic services to efforts to ensure that the benefits of development can be felt by the surrounding community.
The concept of the Human Rights City is considered in line with the vision of Nusantara as a World City for All.
Basuki said his party welcomed input from the Ministry of Human Rights regarding strengthening the human rights perspective in the development of IKN.

The former Minister of Public Works and Housing hopes that the Ministry of Human Rights can support the implementation of human rights principles in IKN through concrete and measurable programs.
According to him, the IKN Authority also opens opportunities for collaboration in the preparation of human rights strengthening programs that can be integrated into the governance of the Nusantara development.

Before meeting with the IKN Authority, Mugiyanto had a dialogue with the community in Sepaku District, North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan.
During the meeting, he listened to aspirations related to employment opportunities for local people, access to basic services, the impact of development, and expectations for the development of IKN.
"We took the time to meet with the community's families in Sepaku, so we were in the District Hall accompanied by our Head of District, we listened to their various aspirations," he explained.
Mugiyanto emphasized the importance of the community around the IKN area to feel the benefits of development while encouraging the resolution of various problems faced by residents through coordination between stakeholders.
