JAKARTA - Bullying or bullying is still a problem that is often found in various environments, including schools.

This of course not only impacts the victim's mental health, bullying can also affect the child's social development, self-confidence, and learning achievements.

At the same time, the threat of sexual violence against children is also a concern that requires early prevention efforts.

Schools are not only required to be a place of learning, but also a safe space for the growth and development of learners. The role of teachers as parties who interact directly with students is very important in recognizing, preventing, and dealing with various forms of violence that occur in the educational environment.

Departing from these needs, a team of lecturers from the State University of Jakarta (UNJ) held a Community Service (PKM) program through a workshop entitled "Creating Child-Friendly Schools: Sex Education and Anti-Bullying" on Monday, June 22, 2026.

This activity in collaboration with LEADER LAB was attended by 17 teachers from SDN Bantargebang III, Bekasi City. The workshop was opened by the Supervisor of SD Negeri Bantargebang III, R. Sardiyo, M.Pd., and the Head of the School Head Working Group (K3S), Asep Nurdin Toha, M.Pd. In his remarks, Asep expressed his appreciation for the implementation of the program.

"I feel grateful that SD Negeri Bantargebang III has become one of the schools selected for this workshop. The material provided is very relevant to the needs of the school today," he said.

During the training session, the teachers received training on various issues that are currently of concern in the world of education, ranging from bullying, sexual violence, to intolerance which is often referred to as "the three great sins of education".

In addition, participants were also invited to understand the dangers of child grooming and the importance of sexuality education that is in accordance with the child's developmental stage.

Not only focusing on theory, the workshop also discusses practical strategies that can be applied at school. One of them is through the Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) approach to help students develop empathy, communication skills, and emotional management skills as a step to prevent bullying.

Participants also gained an understanding of strengthening the functions of the Violence Prevention and Management Team (TPPK), providing a safe reporting mechanism, and early psychological support measures for victims of violence in the school environment.

To measure the effectiveness of the training, the activity was started with a pre-test to find out the level of understanding of the participants before the training, then closed with a post-test to see the increase in knowledge after the material was delivered.

This activity also involved a number of academics from UNJ, including Rizki Achmad Husaeni, M.Pd., Prince Clinton Christian Immanuel Damanik, M.Pd., Neddyana Pahlawaty, M.Pd., Feri Dwi Jayanti, S.Pd., M.Pd., and Maisa Hurul Aeni, M.Psi. In addition, students Nur Aini Fazriyah and Harianti Farah Mufidah were also involved as part of the field learning process.

One of the teachers of the participants admitted that he had gained a lot of new insights that could be applied in daily teaching and learning activities.

"Thank you to the State University of Jakarta for accompanying us through this workshop. The activity was very useful and provided a lot of new knowledge that we can implement in educational activities at school," he said.

This activity was led by Anastasia Arta Uli, M.Psi., as the head of the service team, as well as a psychologist and Founder and Director of LEADER LAB, Wulansari Ardianingsih, M.Phil., M.Psi.

The organizers hope that more teachers will have the understanding and skills to build a safe, inclusive school environment free from various forms of violence so that children can learn and develop optimally.
