JAKARTA - The Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs (KemenKopUKM) together with the Francais d'Indonesie Institute (IFI) and Pintu Inkubator signed a Joint Memorandum of Understanding regarding product development, promotion, and expansion of the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) market in the fashion sector to the global market.

"The development of fashion in Indonesia requires improvement in several sectors, such as in terms of creativity, human resources (Human Resources), marketing and branding techniques," said MenKopUKM Teten after witnessing the signing of the agreement as quoted from his written statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, July 26.

Minister Teten appreciated the Francais Institute d'Indonesie and Pintu Ingubator for initiating the agreement as an effort to encourage the development of the fashion sector in Indonesia.

He hopes that the signed memorandum of understanding can open up opportunities for cooperation with the French Embassy to support the development of fashion in Indonesia and the name Indonesia as a quality fashion center recognized by the world, among others through training by designers from France to fashion MSME actors.

"I also hope that Pintu Incubator can help lift local brands by providing even greater opportunities for local fashion MSMEs to expand their market and strengthen their branding," he said.

The initiator of Pintu Incubator Thresia Mareta explained that currently there are more than 500 local product names that have registered to participate in the Pintu Incubator 2023 program. After going through the curation process, 12 brands were selected who would follow the next incubation process.

Thresia also hopes that there will be a transfer of knowledge and can learn from each other between Indonesian and French fashion designers because through mutually beneficial collaborations there will be an interest in learning the uniqueness of various fashions in Indonesia.

Indonesian designers need a lot of input related to the global market ecosystem. Starting from international standard products, to what kind of industry and business figures are," he said.

He also believes that this collaboration will create opportunities to cooperate with the global fashion ecosystem, which is more professional and is part of the global fashion industry ecosystem. At the same time, we can promote each other's works, as well as introduce Indonesian fashion MSME craftsmen and actors.
