Used KRL Imports Must Hold Audit Results, Don't Just Use Feelings

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan gave the latest news regarding the import of a used electric train (KRL) from Japan. He said, this import deputy must be based on the results of the audit.

"I haven't had a meeting yet, but I did report earlier. I stick to the audit results. So I can't feel it. If you fall in love, but when we talk about this (KRL import) we have to audit it," he said when met at Ritz Carlton, SCBD, Central Jakarta, Thursday, June 15.

Furthermore, Luhut said that with the audit, the government could decide what to do related to this import plan.

"With the basis of the audit, we know what we have to do," he said.

When asked if there was a possibility of a re- audit, Luhut emphasized that there was no such plan.

As is known, the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) as an internal auditor of the government has completed an audit related to the plan to import a former KRL from Japan. BPKP recommends that the government reconsider this import plan.

"No. No. No. They stay, I hope this week, no later than next week," he said.

Regarding the BPKP audit, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) also had time to ask all local governments and ministries/agencies not to ignore the recommendations issued by BPKP. He said it was so that the use of the budget could be absorbed optimally.

"Strengthening internal brawls should not just be accessories. I ask all regions not to ignore the recommendations given by BPKP," he said at the 2023 Internal Insight Coordination Meeting (Wasin) at the BPKP Office, East Jakarta, Wednesday, June 14.
